Druffmix 17.2 – Last Order To Dance

Welcome to the D.H.S. After Hours, the time when things make sense, friends will be friends and love is in the air. We firmly believe in the art of ending a night in style. In fact, we believe in it so firmly that we have become notorious for extending the very last song for quite some time. After all, there is always a next tune. Always. And who knows what tomorrow might bring?

Dedicated to those who are the last to order and the last to leave.

And yet another guest spot at Hamburg’s cherished Betalounge location. Well I told you before how much I loved playing there. If, as usual, I was playing records there that I selected for a gig in town later, that gig was probably a good one, as it contains a lot of records I always loved to play. I remember people hanging out during my set there asking me about Minako’s “Town”, a Japanese disco gem. Hamburg clubbers are often very knowledgeable about music so that surprised me. Result!

There were the two veteran goth girls generously trying to teach goth dance moves to a veteran mod in the backyard of a hater’s party where the wall once stood. One deckchair, a bench, and a table were destroyed in the process. The veteran goth girls were still able to perform the moves most authentically, but the veteran mod failed disastrously due to stubborn groovyness, and not being able to remember that it’s one step forward, two steps back, and not the other way round. He could not produce the claws of desperation and a doomed expression either. This for you, veteran goth girls!

So we watched all the documentaries about the lovey dovey OSOL ’67. We lit the incense, we sat in, we hallucinated, we free loved. We paid our yippietastic dues and questioned authority. But as we are forever the druff types, we also spared a thought for the losers of the movement. The young, the clueless, the outcasts. The teenage rampagers who only had some cheap lysergic kool aid, wrecked amps and a stained garage. But do they had visions, and righteous anger. Paisley shirts and miniskirts, and black boots stomping over the suburbs. If you thought you could shake your shimmy, reconsider. We got the Rebel Yell, the Super Fuzz, the prose to crunch the system and the daze and confusion of a whole generation.

And now it’s time to… Kick Out The Jams, Motherfuckers!!!
